The Vampire Diaries: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST

Great behind-the-scenes stuff with Nina Dobrev and others!
This show is so good and I'm officially obsessed with Nina Dobrev. Although I enjoy Vampire Diaries more than True Blood or Twilight, I always wondered if the show was taking their outside ideas and just adapting them...well, in this discussion Producer Kevin Williamson actually talks about how his show is NOT a knock-off!

Everyone in Vampire Diaries is gorgeous, so it was awesome to hear the cast discuss everything that goes in to vampire make up and sexy abs :) Now that I know just how much work goes into the make up, I don't feel quite as bad about myself! If you're a fan of the show at all, this DVD is a perfect supplement for those annoying days in-between episodes.

Great if you're a fan
I found the dvd really funny actually and as a fan of the vampire diaries it suited me perfectly. I was suprised about the fact that it didn't have a menu and just played by itself so maybe something to work on is have a menu with like extras or something like that. But overall, a great dvd interview with the cast and it only took like 14 days to get to Britain so I was please with that.

intersesting but unfocused a lot of the time
Many of the questions were well thought out. Many of the responses were wonderful and gratifying. But the producers allowed anyone to jump in at any time, and a couple of them did, drowning out the others' responses frequently. You barely get to hear Nina Dobrev at all.

Brain [Blu-ray]

Fun to watch comedy
A great David Niven comedy. If you like those 60s cops and robbers comedies like the Pink Panther you will probably enjoy this.

Slightly silly but glossy and enjoyable 60s caper comedy
Headlined by Jean-Paul Belmondo and Bourvil at the height of their fame, The Brain aka Le Cerveau is a slightly silly 1969 French caper comedy with one eye firmly on the English language market with the casting of David Niven and Eli Wallach, though Olive's new Blu-ray and DVD release is of the French-language version that's some 15 minutes longer than the simultaneously shot abridged English language version released in the US, with Niven and Wallach rather impressively delivering their French and Italian dialogue themselves rather than being dubbed. Niven is the Brain of the title, the criminal mastermind behind the Great Train Robbery whose cerebrum is so large that in moments of stress his neck can't support it, and Wallach the Mafioso he wants to launder his loot from an encore of his greatest triumph with a NATO train carrying a $16m payroll. Unfortunately Belmondo's escaped small time convict and his reluctant pal Bourvil are planning to take the same train using the Brain's...

Amazon you lying Dogs
This is the second time I have bought this movie from Amazon. If I could give it no stars I would. I bought the DVD "Le Cerveau" which was supposed to be in French and dubbed to English and have subtitles only to find out it was in French with no subtitles. According to the description above it is supposed to have German and English dub. Unless you can understand French DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Put it in my Blu-ray player and the first 5 mins you hear David Niven speak English then it has English subtitles with French audio. What part of English dub doesn't Amazon understand. Could you please check your products before you sell them and make sure the product description is correct. To make things worse the video conversion is pathetic. Obviously they found the grainiest film copy to convert and then did nothing to the quality. To sum up: French Audio without an English Dub and very poor video. My second bad purchase from Amazon with Le Cerveau being my first.

Alamo: Thirteen Days To Glory / Malice - 2 DVD Set (Amazon.com Exclusive)

Edited Is Better Than Nothing
Let's say you've waited for years for something to come out on DVD and it finally becomes available.....what's more, it's shown as being the full program. So, you naturally order it, right? Then - you play it and it's edited - say what? Obviously, your next step is to warn others so they don't spend money on something that isn't complete. The VHS set for "Thirteen Days To Glory" is 3 hours long. The package this set comes in says it's 180 minutes - the full mini-series. I suppose that's why when it gets played, it checks in at 148 minutes which the last time I checked isn't 3 hours, but 2 hours and 28 minutes, somewhat shorter than the original. You do have to give credit to those who edited out the 32 missing minutes - they did do a decent job - but sadly, it's not the full program. If you're like me, you've been looking for this and are excited it's on DVD. Perhaps the missing 32 minutes won't bother you. After all, an edited version is better than no version. There does...

Finally Availabe- The Great 1986 Alamo
Truly Great Bargain with the suspense filled thriller Malice1993 thrown in almost for free
The Alamo:13 Days to Glory was one the the very best Alamo flicks in recent years. It is in between the 1960 John Wayne Grand Spectacular and the more recent Thornton/Quaid 1996 outing. The filming was done on John Wayne's reconstructed San Antonio village (of the time) at nearby Brackettville, Texas. This outstanding movie is a great bargain in itself, running a full 3 hours with outstanding acting from James Arness, Loren Green, and Alec Baldwin. The portrayal of Santa Ana, by Raul Julio, is near Oscar Caliber. It very closely follows the award winning book I read as a youngster: 13 days to Glory by Lon Tinkle.
The movie is long "out of print" and barely obtainable on inferior VHS, but thanks to Amazon Here it is for all to once again enjoy in a bargain price "twofers" pairing. A Huge Thank You Amazon!

Wonderful
Malice is such a fantastic film and Alec Baldwin is just amazing so I had to see the Alamo, im not one for cowboy films but it was well done :D

I Puritani [Blu-ray]

Rivetting
Although it's set during a period of considerable interest in English history - the Interregnum that takes in the conflict between the Cromwell's Roundheads and Royalists loyal to the Charles I and the Stuarts - the libretto for Bellini's I Puritani makes little use of the historical circumstances but rather, not surprisingly for an Italian bel canto opera, merely uses it as a backdrop for a story of romantic intrigue. If the libretto follows a well-worn generic line in this respect, I Puritani - Bellini's last work before his early death - is however rather more interesting musically, having more in common with Verdi than Rossini or Donizetti and showing the composer at his most imaginative and inspired. It's fortunate then that there is great emphasis and attention paid to this musical aspect in the De Nederlandse production from 2009, but effort is made in other areas of the production in an attempt to make the work a little stronger and more coherent that it might otherwise...

Original Paris edition (1835) - Quite Different
Every once in a while I rummage through my stacks of CDs and pull out a treasured set. It is to remind me what real Bel Canto singing must have been like in the 1830s when Bellini first presented I Puritani. This CD album is the remastered Maria Callas recording of 1953. Then I was in graduate school and remember that I and my friends marveled at everyone in the cast for such beautiful singing: Callas, of course, di Stefano as Arturo, Rossi-Lemeni as Giorgio and Panerai as Riccardo with Tullio Serafin conducting at La Scala. Her notes were not always on pitch but her agility at fioratura, roulades, trills etc was a marvel but it was all in character. I've loved this opera ever since have seen/heard many performances since. Anna Moffo did a creditable job but Sills, Southerland and E. Gruberova were super creditable as coloratura Bel Canto singers. The Met's recent presentation with Anna Netrebko was not "Bel Canto" but was a dramatic and passionate tour de force and a tremendous...

Justified: Elmore Leonard, Timothy Olyphant, and Graham Yost Live at the Paley Center

It's just not a good time
I've become a Justified addict. The show is smart, darkly funny, intense, and well-acted across the board. These folks actually get Elmore Leonard right. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he is credited as a producer of the show. I am also geeky enough to enjoy the occasional 'behind the scenes' show. So, when I saw this I jumped. I gave it a good try, I really did. But whatever energy Justified has is altogether missing here. Elmore Leonard looks ancient and tired. Timothy Olyphant looks bored out of his mind. Graham Yost is the only one with any life in him. The questions are on the lame side and a bit worshipful. Admittedly, Elmore Leonard is a living legend and Timothy Olyphant is both pretty and a fine actor. Still, there have to be more interesting questions and more engaged answers. My advice: stick with the show and just pretend you never heard of this 'behind the scenes' interview.

Love 'Justified' and Elmore Leonard
If you love the TV show, 'Justified' (and the Elmore Leonard stories that continue to inspire it), as much as I do, then this edition of "Live at the Paley Center" is for you. Author Elmore Leonard, Creator/Show Runner Graham Yost, and star of 'Justified' Timothy Olyphant are all on hand for an informative discussion of the show, how it came to be, how they continue to produce some of the best dialogue on television, and much more. They answer questions from both the moderator and the audience. It runs 60 minutes.

The respect, humility, and admiration held among these professionals is evident and sincere. Leonard is a pro, as are Yost and Olyphant; altogether, they make a phenomenal team. Having read 'Fire in the Hole' and 'Raylan' (available on Amazon), this tribute to the iconic 87-year-old author, Elmore Leonard ('Get Shorty,' 'Out of Sight,' and '3:10 to Yuma'), his stories (including the one about his impeccable work ethic) were something I enjoyed and appreciated...

Good Insight
Entertaining to see people involved with the show give background and interact. Worth a look if you are a Justified fan

Falling Skies: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Interesting
Not outstanding, however interesting as far as how the characters of this series were developed. Liked some of the backstories and it was evident that the cast members did get along.

Good for those who like the show
It was pretty cool to hear their thoughts and ideas about the show and the characters they play. You get to hear their thoughts which I always find interested. It's like the comments on a DVD which I like to listen to.

NCIS: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST

It's tough to be objective
I'm not certain that I can critique this video objectively because I was fortunate enough to attend this PaleyFest event, but I will try. Thank you, Paley Center, for making this video available.

Without being obnoxious about attending the event, I'll try to give an honest overview of what it was like in person. The event began with an introduction about Paley Center and its role in preserving television history. Without any set-up of what would be shown other than an example of the films maintained in the Paley Center archive, a film clip began. The large screen over the stage filled with the image of a 30-something David McCallum, and the audience was generous with its applause and cheers. The clip was a scene from "The Pop Art Affair", an episode of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Set in a coffee shop, a girl named Sylvia chatted with and sketched Illya and his "Dostoyevsky eyes". That brief scene gave the event a nice spark of excitement. After the...

great event!
I was at this event and have been hoping for several years for this to be released on DVD.

When my order arrived, I couldn't wait to check it out, to see if it was as I remembered the event.

This is fantastic--great close ups, fantastic audio, and the spirit of the event is well represented. Great to see cast and crew (sadly minus Pauley Perrette, who was away on a photo shoot) interacting and giving tidbits.

What a great bunch of people!
This is a superb ensemble of actors who have a genuine affection for each other and are devoted to making NCIS what it is today. They approach everything with a sense of humor. Just delightful!

Southland: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Southland best cop show ever.
This is an interview of the creators and several cast members of "S0UTHLAND", probably the best cop show on TV. The only one that comes close is "Police Story" done in the late 70's early 80's. Police story actually had Joseph Waumbaugh, a real cop as its creator. "Southland" had 2 of its creators at this interview and the most important one was missing. Ann Biderman. I really would like hear from her. I also would like to have heard how they used "street people" to play some of the parts. I became a fan in the last 2 seasons. However, I am going to make time to see he first 2 seasons.

Southland
It's good to see the characters in their street clothes, you get a better sense of who they are when you watch the show.

love the show
Nice showing to see the stars talk about the show. talk about the show just sit back and relax while they speak.

Sons of Italy

Wonderful Movie. Sean Kanan is amazing!!!!
I just saw this movie last night and it was wonderful. The cast was brilliant with their acting. The writing was well written. I cried at the end because something unexpected happened(can't give it away). Sean Kanan always delivers the Best and he's the main reason why i bought this movie since he's in it=) Loved his Italian accent and acting. He's phenomenal!

Amazing movie
I brought this movie because of Sean Kanan. He's an amazing actor and the story was great. Mike and Nabila's love story was so sweet but I did not expect the ending and that's all I'll say. I'm very happy that I brought this and I recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed.

It's a so so movie
This movie is based on an historical event and should have more oomph! If it had a bigger budget, better stars, a better director it could have been killer.

The Closer: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

I am a Closer fan and was expecting a bit more from this DVD
It's ok but not great. It seems to be a victim of its own format. The way the cast are interviewed and the setting are a bit lacking. I was hoping to have learned more about 'behind the scenes'. It's also unfortunate that several of the actors did not participate. Good to see once.

Great PaleyFest DVD - interesting tidbits and hilarious moments
Watched this on Prime, and I liked it so much I'm buying the DVD as well. The cast pictured are all who participate - noticeable absences were J.K. Simmons, G.W. Bailey, and Corey Reynolds. I only started watching The Closer when Mary McDonnell began to guest star, so I'm biased to like this as she was on the panel. Overall, it was a balanced interview with a majority of the cast and Duff getting to participate. There were some VERY funny moments. All in all, you can't lose if you're a huge fan of The Closer or any of the actors/actresses from the cast.

GREAT to see them out of role
What an fun hour, seeing and hearing these people all as they are in real life! Very interesting anecdotes, and very enjoyable for anyone who loves The Closer!

Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars and Breweries

Fun and informative-Great guide to Wisconsin Bars&Breweries
This book is both fun and informative. It toasts 70 of Wisconsin's historic bars and breweries throughout the state that best represent some aspect of Wisconsin's great brewing heritage. The book is written by two historians and published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. While its emphasis is clearly on bars/breweries having a unique or important historical aspect, it is also a modern travel guide as all 70 of these bars or breweries may be visited today. They are part of Wisconsin's living heritage. The research took over 2 and a half years to complete. There are pictures and stories, both historic and current, of each bar /brewerey explaining its unique contribution to Wisconsin's culture including many architectural aspects. The first seventy pages trace the history of brewing and drinking in Wisconsin from its early pioneer days, through the Prohibition years and up to modern times. This section is followed by the aforementioned descriptions of the chosen 70. Quite...

Bottoms Up rating
Fantastic book, well illustrated, discussing and displaying some of Wisconsin's most beautiful and interesting historic bars and breweries. Anything published by the Wisconsin State Historical Society is well researched and well written.

Bottoms Up, a top pick
It covers all the details as well as a broad outline of one of the significant Wisconsin icons. Well written too. I want to go to all these places.

Burn 'Em Up Barnes

Very Little Rubber Burned
For such an early serial this kind of fun, but it really doesn't have very much auto racing. Most of the time our heroes are running around trying to keep the bad guys from destroying a movie film which proves the hero's innocence of murder, or a confession signed by the real killer, or the deed to valuable property. The cliffhangers are pretty weak, and there's a gigantic cheat at the end of Chapter 8: A plane crashes head-on into the ground, but in Chapter 9 it's sitting unscathed on the ground.

Mascot was one of the so-called "poverty row" studios, turning out lots of serials up until 1935, when Mascot merged with two other small studios to create Republic Studios. They had a lot of good people at Mascot, many of whom were very successful at Republic, but the quality of Mascot's output looks pretty crude today. This film was cut up quite a bit over the years, and there are places where the sound disappears for a few moments. Perhaps the most interesting part of this...

"Once upon a pair of wheels..."
BURN 'EM UP BARNES was originally a 1921 photoplay that starred Johnny Hines as a race car driver who was also a speed demon on city streets.

In ALPHA VIDEO's 12-part MASCOT PICTURES cliffhanger, this racer's been completely revamped-- he's no longer a disaffected son of wealth who sets off to find adventure, fame, fortune and love. Now, 'Burn-'em-Up' (Jack Mulhall) adopts the young brother (diminutive Frankie Darro) of a friend (James Bush) who's killed on the track.

He also goes into the transportation biz with a partner, bus company owner Marjorie Temple (Lola Lane). Marjorie has some land that she believes is worthless. It actually sits above millions in oil revenue. Our story's villain, promoter John Drummond (Jason Robards Sr.) knows this secret and will do whatever he must to secure ownership of the property.

Watch for brief appearances in episodes 1 and 7 from future...

Outside

Brilliant!
This short film is beautifully done. It tells a believable and fascinating story set in a post-apocalyptic world. In this world, there are some people who are inside (looks like some kind of underground bunker), ostensibly safe from the holocaust, but also removed from beaches, plants, and most importantly, other people. It's like being in solitary confinement, although there is limited contact between the main character, Devi, and other people who are similarly confined. Through technological means -- they can talk to each other, but not touch each other or anything outside their little cell. In this storyteller's future-world, the imagination becomes hyper important, and heightens Devi's awareness of what she has lost. Then one day she sees outsiders through the viewing port in her shelter (which is furnished with a window that's made of some ballistic-resistant material), and they can see her. Afraid of them, she's also drawn to them, and she begins to look for ways to connect with...

The best thing after the apocalypse
Perfect short film that mixed the sci-fi and art movies. Deep like the survivors' bunkers. Addicting, watch once is not enough.

Dumb
Thats really all I can say...oh it was also sad and then dumb. There was a smige of creativity, but the there was no real point and the end was stupid. I thought it would be cool to watch, and it had a 5 star rating. Don't waste your money!

Arizona

Jean Arthur at the Lead Makes It Even More Fascinating...
Go west and find your riches, as the west offers new opportunities that await discovery. This was the idea of the 18th and 19th century America, which led many to seek a new and better future in the unknown west. It led to the colonization of the western United States, which continued over centuries, as people began to inhabit different regions of the west. It was not an easy journey, as the Native Americans sought a way to protect their way of life against the new invaders while nature also presented numerous threats. Despite the many hazards, people continued to flow west with the hope for something better. Director Wesley Ruggles portrays the struggle of the western expansion through a woman and the people around her, as they fight for their southwest state - Arizona.

Arizona opens with a rolling text that briefly explains the situation, as a large caravan rolls into the meager town of Tucson in the year 1860. Tucson has become a gathering place for a diverse group...

I like this film!
Jean Arthur is terrific in "Arizona" as a strong-willed woman who holds her own out west. She gets her man (Holden) without sacrificing her freedom and dreams. I suppose one should call the whole thing unconventional. After all, it's a western whose lead character and overriding focus is the heroine (who is also unconventional). So few westerns retain my interest because of the lack of interesting roles for women. Thelength of the film, a common complaint, didn't bother me, I felt the film showed the "complete world," of Arthur's character's life in Arizona while never becoming one of those overblown epics in which the characters get lost for all the action. All in all, I think this film deserves more respect and attention than it gets.

Another superb Jean Arthur performance.
I just viewed this 1940 movie a few days ago.Overall, the picture was above average for two or three reasons.First of all,the cinematography is superb and secondly,Jean Arthur's fine performance elevates my opinion. There is a very brief moment near the end of the movie, when Arthur's character(Phoebe),is standing off by herself waiting for the outcome of the gunfight between her new husband(Holden)and the villain(Warren William). No words are spoken but in less than thirty seconds of a closeup on Arthur, her expressions shift from terror(at the sound of gunshots),to hope, and finally to extreme relief when she hears Holden's voice.A simply superb piece of acting by the wonderful Jean Arthur. If you buy this movie and if you are a Jean Arthur fan,you will not be disappointed.

Half-Share

I laughed, I laughed more . . .
Such a funny, witty short film with such heart! I only wish it was longer or that they'd film another episode! I loved the characters -- so hilarious! Although it's a comedy, it's real and touches on big relationship issues (romantic and social) that everyone can relate to.

Half-Share is HILARIOUS!!!
So I have seen Half-Share three times at three different LGBT film festivals this year...and I love it so much. Sean Hanley's and Jesse Archer's film is witty, fun, provocative, silly in all the right ways, and a just-plain good ol' gay time. I particularly like Alec Mapa's and Jesse Archer's performances.

And what I am super impressed with is how the jokes keep on coming. Seriously...like, every 20 seconds. THAT is GOOD WRITING. I won't give anything away, but all I have to say is the word "blouse" has a new meaning for me now.

I actually recommended the Palm Springs gay fest take a look at screening it this past summer...and it won the Audience Favorite for Gay Male Short Film!! Definitely purchase this film and share it with all your pals.

Fun and Laughs
The Pilot of 'Half-Share' is really funny. It shows you the importance of friends and fun when you are sad; and how good it can be for you to leave and live an adventure with (crazy)friends. Among the others the movie stars are Alec Mapa, Jesse Archer (Casper Andreas' Iconic Actor) and a cameo of Joey Dudding (Casper Andreas' 'The Big Gay Musical'). I really recommend it if you want to experience an exotic and crazy adventure with wasted and hot gay friends. FUNNY

Love the way the different characters develop yet are consistent. Great fun. Looking forward to the new season. Hope the writers can keep up the dynamic and interesting plots and character development.

"All this crap in the ring represents all the fans here tonight."
- Hulk Hogan

That was the point for me where Hogan's NWO formation speech becomes the greatest wrestling promo of all time. The incredible shock associated with the Heel turn of the biggest Good Guy in the sports' history would have made any promo Hogan cut at that point notorious. And Hulk's incredible candor in discussing why he was bitter with the WWF (referred to as "that organization up north") and bored with his station in WCW presented a level of reality in the promo that we had never seen from him before, certainly qualifying it as the stuff of legend. But that perfect little comment about the "Crap being the fans" was what elevated it to the highest greatness, because when had we ever heard Hulk say something so clever, so timely and...

`Everything comes full circle.' Fascinating and Challenging, a Cinematic Treasure
Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles (City of God, Blindness, The Constant Gardner, etc) once again demonstrates how far away from reality his films can take us, but at the same time how closely he can examine human foibles so that rather than being a spectator he involves the viewer into squirming through our own errors of assignations, past, present and future. The screenplay for this extended psychological thriller is by Peter Morgan (Longford, The Queen, Frost/Nixon. The Last King of Scotland, etc) and yet both men attribute the inspiration to Arthur Schnitzler's 1897 play La Ronde which scrutinizes the sexual morals and class ideology of its day through a series of encounters between pairs of characters (shown before or after a sexual encounter). By choosing characters across all levels of society, the play offers social commentary on how sexual contact transgresses boundaries of class. Billed as a modern remake of the wonderful 1950 French film. La Ronde, 360 turns out to simply be another in a long line of Six-Degrees-Of-Separation-type films (or perhaps, considering its global span, another in a long line of Babel-type films). Unfortunately, there is really no development of story or character, so all that is left of any interest in watching how the lives of the characters randomly intersect on an international scale. The cast is good, with the stand-outs being Ben Foster and Anthony Hopkins (who in a rather small role ironically does his best work in years), but at the end one is left with a big "So What?"

IF THE ROAD FORKS. TAKE IT
I imagine this is titled 360 because "Ring" and "It's a Small World" were already taken. 360 involves a number of disjointed stories that have a way of intersecting or not. There are many indie films out there that do this, some work better than others. The ones that work have quirky stories that hold our interest. This one does not. The stories consist of an escort, infidelity, a sex offender, a man looking for his missing daughter, and a Russian. There may be a few more.

The Denver airport was filmed in Minnesota, apparently they figured no one travels enough to either place to notice. While the acting wasn't bad, the stories were presented in a mundane fashion. One of the problems with the film is that you know in advance the story will circle back so you spend your time concentrating on how it is going to do that rather than try to take in what is on the screen.

If you like intersecting indie films, try Jason Freeland's "Garden Party" a modest production...

March of the Wooden Soldiers (3D/BD /DVD) [Blu-ray]

Beware of the two versions
There are two versions offered for sale at Amazon. The Koch Vision Entertainment version, despite the description in the technical details, is NOT COLORIZED. The Goodtimes Home Video version version IS colorized. Which you prefer is entirely up to you, but don't order the Koch Vision version if you want the movie in color. The Koch Vision version has an extended silent film extra of the first time Laurel and Hardy appeared together (NOT as a team, however). The extra is interesting, but (by today's standards anyhow) a little slow. The Goodtimes Entertainment (Colorized) version, although a few cents cheaper than the other version, is, in my opinion, a much "cleaner" print. Even with the color level turned down so it appears as the original B&W, the Goodtimes version is sharper and more distinct. March of the Wooden Soldiers, holds up pretty well.

A Christmas Must-Buy
The Laurel and Hardy classic, March of the Wooden Soldiers (originally released as Babes in Toyland), was the fantastic result of combining two tremendous talents with a childlike, fantasy world and adult situations (Laurel and Hardy, Toyland and an evil landlord's mortgage conspiracy, respectively). Such rich source material makes for a film of unsurpassed quality: featuring rich and imaginative environments, costumes, sights and sounds. Every fairytale has its day, from Little Bo Peep to the Three Little Pigs to Mother Goose, and even Santa. We all know that the winter months are a time to remember to greatest holiday classics from years past, and March of the Wooden Soldiers is unsurpassed in its genre.

The holidays are associated with bright and festive colors--bright reds, greens, blues and golds--that set a warm and cheery mood, and the movies that we choose to enjoy during this season are no different. Fortunately, this edition of March of the Wooden Soldiers has...

Stunning New High Definition Restoration and Colorization!
Wow is all I can say! Laurel and Hardy's March of the Wooden Soldiers (aka Babes in Toyland) has never looked better. Legend Films and Genius Products found rare 35mm film elements and did a high definition digital restoration to create the finest looking black-and-white version of this L&H holiday classic ever seen. And to beat that, they created a stunning new COLOR version on the same DVD with a new Colorization technology. It really looks like it was shot in color. This disc is then jammed full of great bonus features to take any nostalgic viewer down Christmas memory lane. This DVD is FAR superior to the Goodtimes version (I viewed them side by side) and well worth the extra couple of dollars. I highly recommend this new definitive version of March of the Wooden Soldiers (with the Red box) both for yourself or for a gift.

They Live (Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray]

You look like your face fell in the cheese dip back in 1956.
Wondering what you world would be like if it were run by aliens that were trying to control your minds through subliminal messaging? Well, look no further than John Carpenter's cult classic They Live. Wresting superstar Roddy Piper stars as Nada, a drifter that stumbles upon a pair of sunglasses that show him the truth about his society and the world he inhabits. He discovers that humans are not the only beings to be living on the planet Earth. Nada also knows what he must do to save the human race from complete invasion of these creatures. Does he have enough time and manpower to stop these culprits of communication or will Nada only help them enslave the human race? It will all teeter on the amount of "bubblegum" that he carries with him!

Visionary director John Carpenter creates this world that is not unlike today's society. Glued to the television and void of independent thought, he shows us a human race that resembles cattle in the fields waiting for the...

MEN IN BLACK : THE SEARCH FOR THE GLASSES
Produced by Larry Franco and directed by John Carpenter in 1988, THEY LIVE never appears on the list of the best movies of the american master. I don't understand why. The carpenterian theme by excellence, the rebellion against the establishment, is the central theme of THEY LIVE, and, as far as it concerns action, the movie features one of the most impressing bare hand fights ever presented on screen.

Furthermore THEY LIVE presents a good sci-fi cliché à la Philip K. Dick - they're among us and I'm the only one who sees them -, a theme treated with intelligence by John Carpenter who does have a lot of fun to criticize our contemporary society. One will recognize some of the ideas of the movie in another Carpenter opus directed 10 years later : ESCAPE FROM L.A.

If you're a Carpenter fan, this DVD will soon be in your library but be aware that there isn't even a menu and that you're just allowed to surf into a scene access department. Shame on Image for their lack of...

They Live is mindless entertainment that isn't so mindless
They Live was the last movie of the 80s made by John Carpenter; in many ways this was the end of an era. From 1976-1988 Carpenter had quite an impressive run of what are seen now as classics. The 76-88 era is very much Carpenter's golden era and he actually wrote or co-wrote most of these movies, which makes it even more impressive.

What I love about They Live is the movie is mindless entertainment that isn't so mindless at all. There is a heavy does of social commentary and it's not subtle at all. John Carpenter doesn't hide his feelings at all. He had something he wanted to say and he doesn't hold back. Every movie becomes dated, but some hold up well. They Live is probably one of those movies that will almost always remain current. Even to this day the message delivered in They Live holds up to what's going on in the world.

The screenplay was written by John Carpenter under the name Frank Armitage and overall the script was quite well done. What I love about...

Melancholy gay film
An older gay man and a younger gay man meet repeatedly in a Manila movie theater. This was a story of 2 lonely men from 2 different worlds who found friendship and validation in sharing each other's company. The movie ended too soon. I could feel the pain of both men.

Excellent Short Film
This is a great short film from a very talented filmmaker. Casting is excellent, dialogue is believable and powerful. First love has been portrayed in many ways over the years, and here it is again, authentically told and achingly bittersweet.

Your Sister's Sister

Outstanding 3 performance drama
"Your Sister's Sister" (90 min.) starts off with an eye-popping 5 min. prologue: we see a group of people mourning someone's passing, and just when one of them is giving a eulogy on how great a guy that person was, Jack (played by Mark Duplass) interupts and gives his own (less idyllic) version of that man, who turns out to be his brother. Iris (played by Emily Blunt), who is Jack's best friend and was the girlfriend of his brother, eventually talks to Jack to control his emotions.

Flash forward: at Iris' suggestion, Jack agrees to retreat to the country house of Iris' family, to 'clear his head' and some much needed 'me time'. Much to Jack's surprise, it turns out that Iris' sister Hannah (played by Rosemarie DeWitt) is also there, also in need of some 'me time' after just coming out of a 7 year relationship. The next 20 min. or so nothing happens, other than Hannah and Jack sitting at the dinner table and talking, talking, talking (it's done brilliantly). Things develop...

Strong suspense drives a modest little gem
If I'd heard the plot of this before seeing it, I'd have passed. It's tough to summarize--the magic is in the watching. So I'd have missed this little marvel of writing, acting, and directing. Jack is unsettled a year after his brother's death, and his best friend Iris (the dead brother's ex-girl friend? wife? doesn't really matter)sends him off to her family's cottage in the woods to regroup in peace and quiet. But Iris' sister Hannah has also taken refuge there, and Jack and Hannah console each other. At least we think that's what we saw. When Iris shows up next day, a lot of unsaid things float around, only some of which the audience knows. Because each of the three has a secret, because almost all the action/drama takes place in a short time, in a small place, and because the acting and directing are top-notch, this study in the complex relationship between three decent, though often confused, people, commands the viewer's interest. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next...

Romantic Comedy it hit every note.
The movie had a few brilliant twists and turns, and I was laughing through a lot of it. It was really a rather perfect movie for what it was trying to do. I went into it not expecting much, but I left grading it a 9 or 10 out of 10. I only have a handful of movies that rate that highly on my list. Your sister's sister is actually a great movie to watch with a significant other as it shows a lot of different kinds of relationships. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys just a very entertaining movie where the acting and directing were matched well together.

Caught

Get Caught
I saw this movie ages ago at the video store, rented it, and was blown away. It's one of those films that reminds you never to cheat on your spouse! But like another reviewer said, the wife's son is so wicked that you can't help but blame him for the family's demise. The wife and lover happen into this affair naturally-- how could they resist?

This chilling family picnic is the most memorable scene.

This is a great indie film that reminds you not to act on every desire because there are prices to pay.

One of the few 5 star films. If you see it, you'll agree how good it it. It is dumbfounding how a movie like this is so unheard of. I wonder what other films are out there that are awesome that I don't know about.

(One False Move and Bound are two movies not a lot of people have seen that are excellent too!)

Caught in the Act of Brilliance--
"Caught" is an Independent movie filled with so much sin that the viewer will feel as if, they too, should ask for forgiveness--

Arie Verveen as the drifter whom appears to be at the wrong place at the wrong time--or if one values adultery, lies, and deception, the right place at the right time.

(Maria Chonchita Alonso) is superb as the gorgeous seductress--The older woman whom leaves (Edward James Olmoes) snoring in bed as she wraps her still beautiful body around the younger man. The sex is so wild it is a wonder Olmoes did not hear them--in the shower, closet, bathroom.

But--to me, the most brilliant role is played by Alonso's son--Steven Schub. There is something so absolutely wicked about him, so evil, the viewer will blame him for the trangressions of the family, instead of the mother.

During a picnic, he sticks his feet in his mother's lap pretending to be her lover--she does not know this until her lover stands to stretch--The look...

suberb acting and overall great film
This is an intense and believable erotic-thriller about a couple - perfectly cast with Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso - whose world is rocked by the virtual adoption of a stranger, the return of their twisted son and an opportunity to sell their fish store for a $1 million.

A great story, top notch direction by Robert Young and absolutely superb acting from the entire cast. Most memorable is the stellar performance by Steven Schub as the estranged, Oedipal and borderline psychotic son. Clearly a `method' actor extraordinaire, it is frightening to imagine what he must have gone through personally (he can't be like that in real life!?!) to prepare for this role.

Who is this Steven Schub and what else has he been in? It is immensely gratifying that at least occasionally Hollywood casts a real actor and gives us a freakin' break from humdrum Matt Damon and pretty boy Ben Affleck - aarrrgh. Hey Kevin Smith, hey Scorsese, find this Schub guy and sign him up!

Rescue (IMAX)

I've seen more expensive films that didn't look nearly as good.
So I'm at a local retail store. I don't have a lot of money on me but I want a good 3D title. Then,as if my prayers where heard i stumbled upon this little gem called "Rescue" 3D.

Rescue 3D, centers around the U.S Air Force's relief efforts after the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The opening shots are beautiful in 3D,offering a few moments that made me feel these objects where right in the room with me. When it comes to the pop out factor, Rescue certainly has its fair share and the effect of it is done rather nicely.

The biggest drawback to this film is that theirs quiet a few shot where the absence of 3D is noticeable. The pay off though, comes with the fact that you'll watch one or two scenes back to back with little to no 3D,then the next thing you know a great 3D shot comes around the corner. Another pass i'll give this movie,is that some of the 2D shots look so awesome by themselves it really didn't bother me that not all of them where 3D. I never...

Airplanes,Boats,Helicopters and Firefighters...whats not to like?
I first saw this movie at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. I purchased a copy to add to my personal video library. This is not a full length hollywood feature, but is about 45 minutes long, detailing first responder training, deployment and their actions during the Haiti earthquake emergency. The Blu Ray 2D Version is Impressive, but the 3D version is Spectacular! The 3D effects add to the realism and drama of the documentary instead of gratuitious Hollywood 3D effects. Overall: A feel good about America movie!

3D the way it should be
Watching a video that was shot in native 3D really shows you just what the format is really for. There were some close ups of a female pilot and her eyelashes were popping out of the screen in such clarity it was amazing!
The video as a whole was a day-in-the-life of, not so much an action packed multiple viewing fun film.
Soooo, I can't really say I'd watch it more than twice in my lifetime?

Arthur Christmas (Three Discs: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD + UltraViolet Digital Copy)

A new Christmas classic
What a great film. This will become a Christmas classic that gets played on tv at Christmas time for decades. It is a shame it did not do better at the American box office as this film is a classic. Me and my daughter have been waiting impatiently for this to come out on Blu Ray ever since we saw it last November in the theater. If you are looking for a new Christmas classic to enjoy with your family and make apart of your family tradition, then look no further.

Pure Christmas Magic
I took the kids to see this in the theater. They absolutely loved it. The colors and animation are wonderful. It's a heartfelt, modern family story that takes a look at how we can lose sight of what's important when computer gadgetry takes over society. The clever writing answers all those pesky questions about how Santa gets around the world in one night, keeps track of all the kids' letters, and how the toys are packed into the sleigh. This really brings the magic of Christmas alive. I highly recommend it to kids of all ages who love Christmas.

Arthur Delivers Christmas
The story is smart and the character animation is stellar. I can usually find something to quibble with in any movie but not this one. It's fun from start to heart-tugging finish. This one goes in the permanent collection.

It keeps the spirit of Christmas alive in any household. And it also has a very positive and meaningful message.

Cute film for kids!
Super cute story...good for watching with kids during the holidays! Not your most high budget film but definitely worth the buy!

Cute family Christmas movie!
This is a good family movie kids will love. It is in the style of Home Alone. The girl in the movie kidnaps Santa because she does not get what she wants for Christmas.

Live at Montreux 1981

Live at Montreux 1981 DVD
5 Stars. A must have for all Stray Cats fans. Video and sound good, photography and directing even better and the show, BRILLIANT.

Stray Cats are young, lean and mean
This video captures a young, talented and hungry trio playing rockabilly as if their lives depend on it. The music is pure rockabilly, but performed with a punk sensibility. A mixture of covers tunes and original compositions, including a rare lead vocal by the stand up bassist Lee Rocker on "Drink Your Bottle Down". Barely into his twenties Setzer is already a very accomplished player. Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom play and perform hard, never letting the bottom fall out. A great snapshot of rock and roll being snatched back from the disco days. This is how rock and roll should be played. I encourage any fan of The Stray Cats, rockabilly, punk, or incredible guitar playing to buy this DVD.

STRAY CATS LIVE AT MONTREUX 1981
IF YOU'RE A STRAY CATS FAN, YOU'LL LOVE THIS EARLY CONCERT FOOTAGE. SETZER PLAYS MORE TO THE ORIGINAL SOUND RECORDINGS, UNLIKE A LOT OF THE B.S.O. CONCERT FOOTAGE YOU SEE TODAY. THEY EVEN DO A VERSION OF GENE VINCENT'S PRETTY PRETTY BABY, WHICH THEY NEVER RECORDED. FOR THIS PRICE IT'S A GREAT ADDITION TO A COLLECTION. - C.C.

Lady & the Tramp: Diamond Edition-Gift Set [Blu-ray]

How could I NOT give it 5 stars?
Simply speaking, Lady and the Tramp is my favorite Disney film of all time! In my opinion, it is a 5 star masterpiece, and I would give it more if I could! I remember when I was just 4 years old, watching the characters Lady, Tramp, Jock, Trusty, and the Siamese Cats light up my eyes, as well as my TV screen, as no other movie (except maybe Pete's Dragon or Superman) has done for me before or since. The music and songs are especially enjoyable, especially "Bella Notte." And the thrilling climax (which I won't spoil for the peope who have yet to see it) ranks with the "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" climaxes! I remember having to wait almost a decade for Disney to re-release this classic on video so that I could replace my worn-out taped version. Now that I have it on both VHS and DVD, and both editions are in widescreen, I can enjoy it for years to come as I never thought I'd be able to! Your kids will love it, and so will...

PERFECT
It was LADY & THE TRAMP that first brought Disney to my attention as a child; it remains one of the most supremely delightful animated films of all time. The dog characters are so richly compelling that they become real to you; anyone who ever loved a dog will recognize with what sheer brilliance the artisans have captured canine traits and physical pecularities. The romance between Lady and her Tramp ranks right up there with some of the most perfectly realized romances ever seen in the movies -- he is played with a breezy bravado; she with a fluffed up snootiness -- that their romantic dinner in the back of the Italian restaurant actually has you swooning. And the Peggy Lee-infused musical score gives this movie its most enduring, valuable gift -- it creatively and succinctly develops and elaborates each and every character, and imbues the look and feeling of the movie with an enchantment that transports you to that indesribably wondrous early-Disney place. Looking...

Overlooked Disney classic gets deluxe treatment on 2 disc DVD
Charming to a fault "Lady and the Tramp" continues to be an enjoyable movie fifty years on. "Lady and the Tramp" tends not to be as valued as other Disney animated classics and that's because the story isn't larger than life like the whimsical fantasy of "Peter Pan" and lacks the fairytale charm of "Sleep Beauty" the two films released before and after "Tramp". Featuring a number of marvelous songs and vocal performances "Lady and the Tramp" continues to be a fun film that merely wants to entertain and it does that in spades.

We get a full screen presentation of the film and a widescreen version of the film. Why? Because Disney realizes that the kids will probably watch this on the second TV in the house on occasion. The colors are rich, bright and alive. This puppy is flea free as there aren't any analog or digital blemishes in this marvelous presentation. The film was originally presented in 3.0 "stereo" with a center channel for dialogue for theatrical presentation and...

Warren Miller: Like There's No Tomorrow

Would not recommend this video
I've seen many Warren Miller videos. This is the 3rd I've bought. It is not Warren Miller. Jonny, you do a good job. But what I love about these videos is Warren's perspective. His commentary. His voice. Warren isn't in this video at all. It's all fluff. The title is inspiring...and it's true. But if you want Warren Miller videos, get the older versions.

Shallow Creek Cult

Different Slant on the found footage horror film sub-genre
There have been so many found footage horror films made since 1999 when the Blair Witch Project hit theaters (yes it's been about 14 years!) that you would have thought that the sub-genre would be burned out by now, which is largely true.
Most of what you get now are more sequels to Paranormal Activity and the countless rip offs of that, and just lame, badly acted attempts to make a cheap horror movie.
Shallow Creek Cult is different however, as it provides a decent story, good acting, some funny scenes and genuine suspense focusing one two brothers who battle a group of cannibals in a remote house in the woods.
I recommend this film to anyone who likes the found footage kind of movie and thus my rating of a strong 3 out of 5 stars.

Die Nibelungen: Kino Classics Deluxe Remastered Edition

"Die Nibelungen: Special Edition" is an epic that silent films fans should watch and also own!
They were Germany's powerhouse couple, filmmaker Fritz Lang who had a successful hit with "Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler" (1922), the famous director would marry writer Thea von Harbou, the woman he helped writing her screenplay and helped her with the production of the adaptation of her 1917 novel "Das indische Grabmal" (The Indian Tomb).

The two worked together for the film "Der mude Tod" (Destiny) in 1921 but for von Harbou, she would continue to gain acclaim in 1922 for her adaptation of F.W. Murnau's "Phantom" and the 1924 film "Die Finanzen des Grobherzogs" (Finances of the Grand Duke).

But as von Harbou was planning on her next novel known as "Metropolis", before that novel, she would and Friz Lang would work together in what would become a major, epic collaboration between the husband and wife team.

Writing a detailed script for an adaptation of "Nibelungenlied" (The Song of the Nibelungs), an epic poem created between 1180-1210 in Middle High German...

AN EPIC WORTHY OF THE TERM
Intricate, intelligent, and charged with emotional intensity, Fritz Lang's cinematic telling of the great German legend is truly magnificent to behold. Made when silent films were at their height of artistic and dramatic expression, DIE NIBELUNGEN (1924) puts the CGI blockbusters of today to shame.

The film perfectly captures a medieval atmosphere with an authentic feel to the sets and costumes. The performers especially are in total sync with the grandeur this subject matter demands. Everything is in keeping with how epics should be made, and Kino did a splendid job of presenting the film in a fully restored Blu-ray edition that looks glorious. Transferred from 35mm sources and dyed orange via a photochemical process (as per the original release prints), this is the closest we have to Lang's original vision. And there's a lot to see - just knowing that the grand sets were actually constructed for the film instead of having the actors popped into flat, digitally enhanced...

Absolutely incredible!
While I won't comment on the film, I will comment on the Blu-Ray. I am blown away by the restoration of "Die Nibelungen." There are rarely any artifacts to be seen, and the detail is incredible. This is one of the best restoration jobs I have seen. The soundtrack sounds incredible. It sounds obviously uncompressed and jumps out from my speakers. It is so crystal clear, you can hear the shifting chairs of the orchestra and I like to think I can even hear the cleaning of the woodwind instruments. :) I have always had a soft spot in my heart for live performances where you can hear the occasional shift of chair and audience cough, and this performance fits that... so some of you may find that annoying, yet it isn't overpowering. The soundtrack is so rich, I have turned my TV off, set my OPPO player to "Audio Only", and have enjoyed the soundtrack on its own while studying. I highly recommend this Blu-Ray if you are interested in the film. For screenshots, please check out...

Dinotasia

Not as good as Dinosaur Revolution
This DVD is still worth getting, no doubt. Compared to Dinosaur Revolution, it leaves out quite a bit and jumbles up the story lines, often placing scenes out of context (where they made sense and followed a clear narrative in Dinosaur Revolution).
The scenes not included are : The Cryolophosaurus, the Mosasaur, the Gigantoraptor and the Eoraptor. The one bonus is you get a brief scene at the beginning where an Acrocathosaurus is brought to life from a skeleton and wanders out of the museum into a modern day city. My recommendation is buy it if you cannot get dinosaur revolution on DVD or Blu-Ray, or if you simply are willing to spend whatever it takes even for a brief glimpse of Acrocanthosaurus. For those of you already owning Dinosaur Revolution, this reshuffled and edited version will not add to what you already have witnessed (Acro aside). Overall, I thought Dinosaur Revolution was a better production.

Dinosaur Revolution
This is the Discovery Channels "Dinosaur Revolution" Just a Different Name .
It was on the Disc Channel sept 2011 here in the US .
The wait is over I will be getting it .
I Hope you all injoy it as much as I did .
The CGI is very good and the Storys are Great (My Fav is the Allosaurs with the Injured Lower Jaw :-)

If "Scientific American" owned the "Termite Terrace."
This is the movie that the cable series was supposed to be. Don't see it expecting it to be a longer version of the series. It is a different product, a different vision. It is a collection of classic Warner Brothers-inspired cartoons set to story lines that are based on the latest and best available scientific knowledge about dinosaurs. Some of the stories are violent and may be emotionally difficult for very young children, others show complex and rewarding family universality. At least one is a glorious, funny, nearly shot-for-shot homage to a very classic WB cartoon familiar to any baby boomer. Since Mel Blanc is no longer with us, Dinotasia's animals do not speak words, although they can and do communicate throughout this intelligent and courageous show of visual storytelling. But wait! Mel may be gone, but nothing can prepare you for what happens when Werner Herzog apparently wanders around the production office for a couple of days. In his distinctive vocal style that is both...

UFC: The Ultimate Fighter Live! Cruz vs. Faber

Im sorry i cant give the TUFs any less than 5 stars, i like them, ALOT.
Another great season of mainly U.S fighters slugging it out in the octogon. This season grabbed me right from the start when Dana gave the hopefulls a 1 round fight to prove who belongs in the house. Alot of finishes and desperation to perform came out of the fighters and it was crazy, 1 fighter had a broken toe which was facing to the roof and still continued to grapple and kick!! Good high quality fighters right from the start, the coaches dont like each other and have previously fought twice before which keeps the competition fierce. Without giving it away the rags to riches story of 1 fighter locked me in emotionly right to the end and on the conclusion gave out a great feeling of wellbeing. The winner deseved it more than anyone, TOP FIGHTS, QUALITY FIGHTERS worth the small entry fee.

Real Animosity
Loved this TUF as the tension between Faber and Cruz only continued to build throughout the taping
I became a bit of a Cruz fan as he showed a more sincere side than the California Kid
Uriah had his gaurd up the whole time while Cruz became more and more genuine.

Always fun to watch TUF
This season of tuf was good new format confused me at first but it wasn't that bad. Lots of good fights plenty of good talented fighters little bit of drama compared to the other seasons (like house pranks I mean) but its a good season and lots of fighters from this season are in the ufc now and are doing well . And the finale was a great show many good fights there
worth the buy.

The Mountain Within

great, great video!
Great video. I was searching for documentaries on Kilimanjaro and came across this one. Everyone had so much determination. How inspirational it was.

re. The Mountain Within
This film not only takes you up Kilimanjaro but it brilliantly tells a story about the power of the human spirit. It allows the viewer to experience the incredible determination shown by those affected by a disability. Not everyone who attempts climbing Kili will make it given the random way which altitude sickness strikes down the fittest of climbers. But this film is a testament to why we should focus on ability rather than disability in life - I was very moved.

The Mountain Within - Video - DVD
Not having read the book, THE MOUNTAIN WITHIN, by Herta Von Stiegel, my wife thought this video would be boring. By the end of the movie, she was CAPTIVATED. She said this is the best Documentary she has ever watched.

The Documentary is about Herta (an internationally acclaimed Business/Finance Executive) and Hans (her husband) Von Stiegel who lead a group of 28 (of which 7 are disabled) on an attempt to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for charity. Typically, only about 35% of all climbers who attempt the ascent on Mt. Kilimanjaro are successful in making it to the top. Yet, 60% of this group of 28 multinational climbers and 3 of the 7 disabled made it all the way to the top in six days.

The story also provided me with an excellent leadership lesson on motivation, goal setting and team work, and the opportunity that was/is given each climber (disabled & non-disabled) to conquer the mountains of obstacles everyone has to deal with in their own lives (personal and...

Jordu Schell Creature Studio Maquette sculpting and Painting

Jordu Schell Creature DVD
The DVD came sealed in new condition. Upon watching it the narrator kept alluding to " the pamphlet" that came with the disc. There was nothing in the case other than the DVD. Does not seem to be Amazon's oversite, but an oversite of the company producing the DVD. Shipping was quick and all else went excellent!

The Bold And The Beautiful: How It All Began (4 Disc Set)

'THANK YOU GOD!!!!"
Obviously the Bell family, who owns the rights to "The Bold and the Beautiful" (the world's most-watched soap opera) saw the incredible sales of the Proctor and Gamble owned soaps "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns" had on DVD so now comes an "official" DVD release of "B and B" featuring the series' first 16 episodes.

See how the stories all began back in the early spring of 1987 when Stephanie Forrester first met Brooke or when Ridge met Brooke and how the Forrester family made a solid mark in the California fashion industry.

What is amazing about these shows all 16 episodes were written soley by its creator William J. Bell while he continued to write "The Young and the Restless".

The stories are involving and many smack of the early days of "Young and Restless", but still the serial became known for the solid performance of Susan Flannery, an Emmy winner for her work on "Days of Our Lives", as Stephanie whom soap opera historian Chris...

Great addition to collection
It's great that the suits at CBS has finally released this version in the US after having sets released overseas for years. Seeing how some storylines and characters evolve over the last 25 years has been great. With the recent departures of Ronn Moss and Susan Flannery, it's especially cool to see them in their early days of B & B. Looking forward to future releases.

Enjoyed This Very Much!
I was very pleased with this set. I was born in 1987, so I obviously was not able to see the first few years of this show. I am familiar with the history of the show, but it's still good to actually see the episodes and watch the show unfold from the beginning. I only had a couple of complaints with the set.

1) I wish that they had more episodes in the set than just 16. Overseas, the box sets come in 25 episode sets. I hope in the future, they will consider including more episodes in the sets.
2) There aren't any "extras" on the DVD. You basically get the episodes and that's it. When I put in the first DVD, I thought maybe I had hit a wrong button, b/c it literally went right into the episode. I was like "Is this the beginning?" It could benefit from chapter selection and maybe some other behind-the-scenes extras/interviews.

Other than those two complaints (which are minor, in my opinion), I really enjoyed it. Can't wait until they release...

Call Me Troy

Doesn't work in dvd player
very good Biography of Troy Perry. Unfortunate I had to watch it on a small computer screen instead of my big 42" TV

Bio Rev Troy Perry
Did not play in either of my dvd players. Watched on the computer. A very good Biography of Reverend Perry's life up to early 2000's. Just wish it had been a real dvd.

The Show

strange gilbert flick
I saw this on youtube in bits and pieces of film clips looked interesting.so when i saw this was on dvd i took a chance on it .very strange film, gilbert is not the great lover in this he is not loveable and plays an unsymphatic role till the end .he walks like cocky straight and fast movements reminds me a little bit like chaplin.but i like john gilbert hes better than valentino who died a year earlier, gilbert was the biggest movie star at this time.the film is clear and the music score is eerie at times but the music fits perfect with the film.directed by tod browning who did dracula and freaks you know what kind of film it will be .dvd came in good condition free two day shipping with prime.hope they come out more great more gilbert films,i just ordered the merry widow with gilbert cant wait to see that one.

Long overdue dvd release from a true Hollywood auteur
The screenplay for The Show (1927) was written by frequent Tod Browning collaborator Waldemer Young (with uncredited help from Browning). It is (very loosely) based on Charles Tenney Jackson's novel, "The Day of Souls." Originally titled "Cock O' the Walk," The Show is one of the most bizarre productions to emerge from silent cinema, nearly on par with the director's The Unknown from the same year.

John Gilbert plays Cock Robin, the ballyhoo man at the Palace of Illusions. A character with the name of an animal is a frequent Browning trademark, and Gilbert's Robin is a proud Cock indeed, both the character and the actor. The Show amounted to punishment for star Gilbert, who had made what turned out to be a fatal error. When co-star and fiancee Greta Garbo failed to show up at their planned wedding, Gilbert was left humiliated at the altar, where studio boss Louis B. Mayer made a loud derogatory remark for all to hear. Gilbert responded by thrashing Mayer. Mayer...
